Self Portrait Saturday

Not a great photo at all, it's out of focus but that's how I'm feeling today, sorry chaps :O)Just in case you're wandering where I am, I'm stood in Lisa's bedroom. She made me promise before she left, it would still be her bedroom for as long as she needed it. Of course I said yes and one day, we might even get around to redecorating it for her :O)

Break

Took my bus to the garage this morning to have the drivers side back door sorted out where I bumped it last month. Seems a good photo for todays word ~ break :O)They've given me a courtesy car until it's fixed. A Skoda!! I had to walk round the car with this man to make sure there were no bumps or scratches on it & then sign a piece of paper. He told me that it had a 1/4 of a tank of fuel and could I bring it back with the same amount. I nearly asked him if it took petrol, diesel or syrup ~ ROFL. But he didn't seem to have a sense of humour so I didn't bother. All I could think of on the way home was, if I had another crash, would there be jam & cream everywhere?? PMSL :O)

Quirky

I'm back :O) Have you missed me? Well I'm slowly trying to get used to Lisa not being here, it's not the best feeling in the world but thank goodness for MSN, e-mail, phones etc. :O) Here is my attempt at Quirky, not sure it is classed as quirky, could come under the heading of kitch or just bad taste ~ lol! It was a gift from a sweet lady who we dog sat for, bless her :O) I think it's a fruit dish, which has very cleverly been cut from a single piece of wood :O) Hope everyone is OK, I missed you all :O)

This is one of my gorgeous daughters Elena :O) Not only does she look deep in thought, she is the most thoughtful little girl I know. I got home from work today and she made me a cup of tea ~ bless :O)

Show Off Sunday :O)

Yesterday we watched the magnificent 'RED ARROWS' at the White Air Festival in Sandown. They were fantastic!! Britain at it's finest :O)

Chew

I apologise now for my take on the word today ~ lol! It's the best I could come up with, unless you wanted to see a mouth full of half eaten omelette? ROFL We don't have 'real' trains on the Isle of Wight, we have dotto trains, steam trains & a couple of old London Underground Trains, but hey, they all make the same sound don't they ~ chew, chew!!!

Dish

Just waiting for inspiration to strike ~ lolWell, this is as good as it gets :O) It's a little glass dish I keep in the downstairs bathroom. It's like the black hole of Calcutta in there so I've photographed it out in the garden where the light is much better. My little dish holds shells for 11 months of the year, then, at Christmas, I put baubles, pine cones and other sparkly stuff in it just to jazz it up a bit ~ lol!

Cloud

Look, blue sky and sunshine! I was actually worried there would be no clouds ~ lol :O) I found this one though ~ aww bless :O) This is the same view last night :O)

Apple

How hard can it be to find an apple? We have none on the fruit dish & I'm not going shopping until later. There are none on the tree because we picked the only one it produced last week and made apple crumble with it. No 'Adam's' apples around, all the men are at work :O). The only photo I could find on the hard drive was the wooden one I used for my 'fruit' prompt. Soooo thinking out of the box I give you this ... I took it back in May on a very dull & windy day. It's called 'Freemantle Gate' and is (or was) the entrance to Appuldurcombe House, dya get it, Apple ~ durcombe!!

Sun

We walked along the river Medina today to the Folly Inn for lunch. Andrew spotted this lonely sunflower. I know Anita's already done a sunflower but hey, there's room for two ~ lol!

Show off Sunday ~ lol! What a fab idea :O) Anita & Kirsty are great aren't they :O) I've been practicing taking photos of spider webs and took this. Don't you just love nature :O)

Self Portrait Saturday

OMG, Anita has challenged us to do a self portrait every Saturday and the one thing I hate more than anything is having my photo taken. This is me trying to grin and bear it ROFL. God knows where the grin bit is? Going to have to try & not get a reflection in my glasses next time.

Stone

A really big cheat today as I haven't taken this photo and it's not even in my space. Can I be forgiven as I am so excited :O) I have been tracing my family history since the early 1990's and am still finding out about my ancestors even now. Today my cousin sent me an e-mail from Florida which had been sent to her from a lovely man in Clayton, Manchester (UK) who took the photograph. It's the resting place of my Great Great Grandfather George Hunter Horrocks {insert huge grin}.

White

Not really liking this photo but I'm struggling to find something white. Might be back in a bit with a different one :O) Decided to look in my trusty garden and voila :O) It would have been nicer to have an all green background rather than the pebble dashed wall but beggars can't be choosers ~ lol xXx

Friend

I've got lots of friends here, not particularly the ones you can have round for a coffee and cry on their shoulder but friends enough to go out with.

My best friend from school, Nicky, lives in Leeds so we have lost touch a bit and only really send birthday & Christmas cards.

My bestest friend ever though lives in Nottingham. This can be a problem living on the Isle of Wight especially when your bestest friend is moving and the only means of communication is by mobile phone or snail mail! We manage though :O) She is an amazing person and I have never realised, until today, the lack of photographic evidence of her. Thanks Anita, I must put that right :O) Teresa & I "found" each other whilst we were tracing our family history (my Dad & her X husband were cousins ~ long story). And the rest, as they say, is history :O) Teresa is one amazing lady, her wonderful husband was cheating on her whilst she was at home looking after 3 small boys and recovering from a brain tumour!! Does she moan, no! Her brain tumour unfortunately came back and she had to have a second operation. The tumour grew behind her eye socket which made her eye protrude and eventually she lost the sight in that eye. Does she moan, no!! She makes fun of herself and gets on with life. If you ask her a question which she doesn't know the answer to, she laughs and says "I've no 'eye' dear ~ d'ya get it"!!! I tell ya, she never moans, what a woman!!!

Good news though, she's found herself a new man who worships her and on Valentines day this year, he proposed with a poem he'd written inside her Valentine card ~ aww.

Plant

This is my Wax Plant, I love it because it's so unusual :O) This is the 2nd time it's flowered this year. It has has very thick waxy leaves and the flowers almost look as if they've been made from fur! I want to dedicate my photos today to my American blogging friend Vicky. She's been leaving comments on my main blog, Vanda's Ramblings for months now and I've been trying to persuade her to join in the fun that is HS:MS. Sadly she passed away this week. She was only 50 and worked in an intensive care unit in Ohio. I'll miss her very much X

Lock

Now I know this doesn't look like a lock but it is. It's one of those safety locks that you lock from outside with a key but inside you just turn the knob. It's so you don't have to go rummaging for the key if you have a fire :O) I love my DH!
