Thanks for the advice, I did it, but then couldn't work out how to turn it back into a jpeg to upload the the blog! (bangs head against wall in frustration!!).
All is not lost though as I managed to work out why the writing was too teeny when doing it in Adobe - I'd forgotten to shrink the photo! Just in case you were wondering if the men in white coats were coming for me yet, there's a van parked at the corner and the door is opening...
